We’ve conducted DEI-focused listening sessions with our workforce, and we’re providing ongoing training and education sessions to help build stronger connections and advance our work. We’re establishing business resource groups and we’ve ensured that our enterprise-wide Talent and Culture Ambassador Group is comprised of associates with diverse backgrounds and experiences so we may apply a DEI lens on the priorities that are essential to our culture.
Our DEI efforts extend beyond our associates and culture to embrace our customers, distribution partners and community organizations.
We’ve doubled our investments in innovative community-based programs that address such root causes of racism and inequality as poverty, education and access to jobs.
We’re particularly proud of our Pathways Program, which began in 2018 as a way to ensure that every OneAmerica Financial job is a good job, and has expanded to provide underserved high school students and recent graduates a chance to learn about our industry and gain important work skills. We’re excited to share the Pathways’ blueprint with other employers, and were honored to receive the Excellence in Youth Employment award in August 2021 during the Indianapolis Mayor’s Celebration of Diversity event.
We’re an active participant in the ACLI’s Economic Empowerment & Racial Equity initiative, TAC’s Four Steps Forward program and the Business Equity for Indy effort, along with other local and national programs to address inequities and disparities in underserved communities.
